The Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy started Outpatient services in January, 2021. Despite tender age the department is progressing steadily towards establishment of the “Centre of excellence in Dermatological care” in eastern India, by establishing modern facilities like ‘Phototherapy unit’ and ‘Laser unit’ and preparation in this regard is in full swing.
Professor (Dr.) Aparna Palit is the head of the department and started the clinical services and various facilities for patient care. Inpatient services have been started in December, 2022.
Approximately 80-100 patients are being examined / day in the OPD and special clinics.
In addition to registered patients an excellent follow- up system with ‘personal touch’ has been set by calling the sick patients over phone to observe their response to therapy or to conduct minor procedures. Minor surgical procedures and skin biopsy are being done regularly after overcoming the initial obstacles.
At present four senior residents are working in the department.
We have a vision to serve the needy patients, to treat the ‘difficult to treat’ cases and to utilize our knowledge and expertise at best and latest for incurable diseases.
